Meet Clifford the Big Red Dog this Sunday!

Clifford the Big Red Dog Personal Appearance

Sunday, June 27, 2010

1:00-3:00pm

Talk about a HUGE event for the kiddos!  How about taking them to see Clifford the Big Red Dog this Sunday at Imagination Station!

Clifford will be making a personal appearance at Imagination Station to the delight of children and parents in the area. This lovable pup has been a popular character in children’s literature for over 40 years and is now coming to the science center for a one-time opportunity. Come meet Clifford in person and have your photo taken with him.

Clifford the Big Red Dog is an American children’s book series first published in 1963. Clifford was the runt of the litter, and was chosen by a city child named Emily Elizabeth Howard as her birthday present. No one expected Clifford to grow, but Emily Elizabeth’s love for her tiny red puppy changed Clifford dramatically. Before long, he was over 25 feet (7.6 m) tall, forcing the Howard family to leave the city and move to the open spaces of Birdwell Island.

Visiting Cedar Point with young kids

Posted by admin | Uncategorized | Tuesday 22 June 2010 8:43 pm

My husband and I decided to brave the crowds and head to Cedar Point on opening day. We had our three kids in tow a – 5, 3 and 1 year old. Some people thought we were crazy for taking our young kids to Cedar Point. There were many ideas: They would be hot, Not enough kiddy rides, Do you really want to take the baby? etc.. The list goes on and on. Well, I am here to tell you that we had an AMAZING time!! Not one tear until we told the kids it was time to leave.

Security – First Things First

The first thing we did when we got to the park was go to the guest relations office and get wristbands for our kids. There are two types of wristbands. One is for height. If you get your child measured, then they do not have to stop at every ride entrance. The wristbands are color coded so workers know what height each child is.

The next wristband is for lost children. This program is called Cedar Point KidTrack. You write your cell phone on the back side of the wristband. If your child gets lost, the workers know to flip the bracelet to find your phone number.

You can also get parent swap tickets in this office. This is a great concept for those parents that still want to ride some of the bigger rides. This allows one parent to wait at the exit with the kids. Once one parent has rode the ride, they switch.

Food

I decided that I wanted to pack our lunch and take a cooler with me to the park. Cedar Point has a huge picnic pavilion right outside the entrance to the park. People leave their coolers sitting on the tables and then return at lunchtime to eat. This worked out well for us. I have a very picky eater so I packed something I knew she would eat. It also gave us a nice break during the heat of the day.

One complaint that we could only find one restaurant that sold milk. Having an infant with us we were in need of milk and had to walk back to the coffee shop to get some.

FREE ice water is also available at all food stands throughout the park.

If you decide to eat in the park there are quite a few options. There is even a Pizza Hut Express near Planet Snoopy. The restaurants all offer kid friendly menus and drinks.

Rides

Next we hit Kiddy Kingdom first. My kid’s rode ride after ride after ride in this area. We did not have to wait in line at all. There are a total of 13 rides in this area. These are low thrill rides so your little ones are sure to be able to ride these.

Planet Snoopy was next.  My kids loved riding the Kite Eating Tree ride! I think they went on the ride at least 5 times. There are 7 different rides in Planet Snoopy. Once again, we didn’t have to wait for any rides here.  There is also a family Care Center in Planet Snoopy.

Camp Snoopy was the next stop. There are 8 rides in this area of the park. The Woodstock Express was the favorite ride in this area. I was surprised by how fast this kiddie roller coaster actually went! They even take pictures of you and your little one – this is a great way to document your child’s first roller coaster experience. There are a whopping 8 rides in this area! The lines were a little longer in this section of the park. We waited about 15 minutes for the Woodstock Express.

We were also able to meet some of the characters in Camp Snoopy. We met Linus, Charlie Brown and Lucy at the Camp Snoopy Theater. They were available for pictures and hugs. They also have a sing along which we missed the day we went.

Games

The day would not have been complete without my husband winning some prizes for the girls. For the past several years we have gone home with huge stuffed animals. I pleaded with my husband to only get small prizes this year. He was able to win a couple of animals and the girls were ecstatic. Cedar Point has a great promotion on their website for Games. They have a Games Family Savings Pack for $10.00. This pack gives you $10 worth of game play and coupons for other things in the park.

Conclusion

Our day at Cedar Point created many good memories that I will never forget. I highly recommend visiting Cedar Point while your children are young. There are many different discount plans available on the Cedar Point website. Have questions or need advice on taking your young children, shoot me an email. I would love to help answer questions for you!

Please note that this was not a paid post. This review was written based on my own experience while visiting Cedar Point. A Special thanks to Cedar Point for supplying the tickets to write this review.
